General Preparation
- Remove all personal belongings from the property.
- Check the tenancy agreement for any specific cleaning requirements outlined by the landlord or agency.
- Gather cleaning supplies: vacuum cleaner, mop, cloths, sponges, detergent, glass cleaner, degreaser, etc.
Kitchen
- Oven and Stovetop: Thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the oven, removing any grease or burnt food.
- Range Hood and Filters: Clean range hood, degrease filters, and remove dust from exhaust fans.
- Cabinets and Drawers: Clean the inside and outside of all kitchen cabinets and drawers.
- Sink and Taps: Descale and polish the sink and taps. Clean drains to prevent blockages.
- Refrigerator and Freezer (if applicable): Defrost, clean, and sanitize. Don’t forget to clean underneath.
- Counters and Surfaces: Wipe down and disinfect countertops, backsplashes, and any kitchen surfaces.
- Dishwasher (if applicable): Clean the filter, run an empty cycle with cleaning solution, and wipe down the outside.
Bathrooms
- Toilets: Clean, disinfect, and descale the toilet bowl, seat, and exterior.
- Sinks and Taps: Descale and clean sink and taps. Ensure the drains are running smoothly.
- Showers and Bathtubs: Scrub tiles, grout, glass screens, and bathtubs. Use descaler for any lime deposits.
- Mirrors and Glass Surfaces: Wipe down and polish mirrors and shower doors.
- Cabinets and Shelves: Clean inside and outside of bathroom cabinets and shelving.
Living Room And Bedroom
- Dust and Clean All Surfaces: Wipe down walls, skirting boards, light fixtures, switches, and outlets.
- Windows: Clean windows inside and out, including tracks and frames.
- Carpets/Floors: Vacuum and, if necessary, steam-clean carpets. For hard floors, mop thoroughly.
- Furniture: If included in the lease, clean all furniture, including cushions, upholstery, and any built-in shelves.
- Closets and Wardrobes: Clean the inside and outside of all closets and wardrobes, wiping down shelving and doors.
Laundry Area
- Washer and Dryer: Clean the inside and outside of the washing machine and dryer. Empty lint traps and check for any debris.
- Sink and Taps: Clean and descale the laundry sink and taps.
Outdoor Areas (if applicable):
- Balconies/Patios: Sweep and mop all outdoor areas, removing cobwebs, leaves, and dirt.
- Garbage Bins: Empty and clean all garbage bins, ensuring there’s no bad odour.
Final Inspection Touches
- Odor Control: Ensure there are no bad smells by ventilating the property well.
- Dust and Cobwebs: Check high corners, baseboards, and ceiling fans for any remaining dust or cobwebs.
- Lights and Fixtures: Replace any burned-out bulbs and clean light fixtures.
